On Friday it was reported that DeGeneres had split with her girlfriend of four years, photographer-director Alexandra Hedison.We're told the real reason for the break is that DeGeneres is now deeply in love with de Rossi, the Australian-born "Arrested Development" diva. De Rossi recently dumped her longtime gal pal, singer-songwriter Francesca Gregorini (Ringo Starr's stepdaughter) to be with DeGeneres, a source close to the new couple told PAGE SIX's Jared Paul Stern. The pair are now in DeGeneres' house in the Hollywood Hills which Hedison left a couple weeks ago.
DeGeneres, 46, and de Rossi, 31, first met nine months ago on a photo shoot, we're told. They fell "instantly in love," de Rossi gushed to pals at the time. But DeGeneres remained loyal to Hedison, whom she often credited with "saving her life" at a time of crisis. However, when DeGeneres and de Rossi met up again at VH1's "Big in '04" awards gala in L.A. on Dec. 1, events took their natural course. [Page Six]

It's splitsville for TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her girlfriend, photographer-director Alexandra Hedison.A source close to the couple told People magazine that Hedison moved out of DeGeneres' home last month, ending their four-year relationship.
"It's difficult for both of them and very sad," said the source. "They were a private couple, and they hope they can separate privately."
DeGeneres, 46, and Hedison, 35, the daughter of soap opera actor David Hedison, met through mutual friends in 2000. They had been sharing a Hollywood Hills home with their two cats and a puppy, People said. [Daily Dish]

Meryl Streep on George Bush
Fox News Channel commentator Monica Crowley was at a fundraiser for the Kerry/Edwards campaign and had a few things to say about President Bush.
"It seems to me," Streep reportedly told the crowd, "that if you are going to invite Jesus on the campaign bus with you, you ought to know what he said.""Jesus said, 'Blessed be the peacemakers.' What happened [with Bush]?" The aging star recalled that as the Iraq war began, "I wondered to myself, through the shock and awe, which of the megaton bombs our president's personal savior would have personally dropped on the sleeping families of Baghdad."
Streep's attack on Bush culminated with the suggestion that he was a religious hypocrite for responding to the Sept. 11 attacks with military force.
"Jesus said, 'Turn the other cheek when you're hit,'" the Hollywood actress lectured. "And Jesus also said, 'Love thine enemy.'" [via NewsMax]
I love it when reporters who disagree with what someone is saying, add their own dig. Example: Crowley calling Meryl Streep an aging star. Grow up.
